TRUCK DRIVERS - CODE 14 (X14) - OPERATIONS - GAUTENG

Diplomat South Africa is recruiting for the roles of Truck Drivers - Code 14 (X4) in the Operations division based in Gauteng - Johannesburg. The positions will report to the respective Distribution Manager in the region.

Key Responsibilities

To ensure that the right order is delivered to the correct customer within the required delivery time frame. Also ensuring a high level of customer service, as well as the completion of all administration to ensure route closure.

Delivery Service:

  • The Driver will be responsible for the entire load - including stock, pallets and returns from the customer.
  • The Driver will ensure that he follows the given routes to meet all On Time Deliveries. All deviations must be reported to Diplomat and that all documentation is signed back.
  • Will ensure all returns are uplifted from the customer and returned to Diplomat for debriefing.

Asset Management:

  • The vehicle is the responsibility of the Driver, thus he must ensure all daily check sheets are compared, faults reported and rectified.
  • The Driver must also notify Diplomat of any service or licensing requirements for his vehicle.
  • The Driver must ensure that his vehicle securely loaded and locked / sealed before departing for delivery.

Route to Market:

  • The Driver must ensure that he follows the route plan and trip sheet. Feedback must be given on the plan to ensure RoadNet optimization.
  • Any delays or deviations on route must be reported to Diplomat.
  • The Driver must ensure that his vehicle is securely loaded and locked / sealed before departing for delivery.

Customer Service:

  • It is the Driver's responsibility to ensure both he/she and the crew member are dressed in a presentable manner when delivering to a customer.
  • The Driver will be the face of Diplomat and thus will be responsible for greeting the customer and all the introductions.
  • All communication will be through the Driver during the delivery.
  • The Driver will handle all queries, requests or complaints from the customer and ensure that the customer is satisfied after the delivery.
  • The Driver will communicate any issues from customers or with the deliveries back to Diplomat immediately and reconfirm these at the time of debriefing.

Administration:

  • Ensure all documentation is correctly signed, stamped and dated when delivering to various customers.
  • All documentation to be checked before departing for delivery and completion of delivery. 
  • To ensure fuel cards, keys and locks are correctly signed out and returned upon arrival back at the yard. All fuel slips to be returned with fuel cards. 
  • Ensure all pallet slips are accurately recorded and returned for accurate record keeping. 
  • Ensure all traffic violations and fines are reported immediately to Diplomat. 
  • Ensure all POD's or Uplifts are returned once delivery has been completed. 
  • All vehicle inspection sheets are correctly filled and handed in daily.

Position Requirements

  • Completed Matric or equivalent accredited by SAQA .
  • A valid Code 14 Drivers License with PDP.
  • 5 years' experience as a Code 14 Driver within the FMCG Industry.

Job Profile
